Ueno Tenjin Festival Ueno Tenjin Matsuri
Date: October 20, 2023 (Friday) - October 22, 2023 (Sunday)
Registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in November 2016!
With over 400 years of tradition, it is Iga's largest festival that colors Iga Ueno's autumn season, and has been designated as a national important intangible folk cultural property. In November 2016, it was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Three danjiri floats will be dispatched from the Danjiri Hall, and each town will prepare the danjiri floats (assemble and decorate them). It is displayed at Danjiri storehouses in each town.

The ceremony of aligning the feet of the Oni Gyoretsu is held at Sannomachi-suji, the danjiri parade is held at Honmachi-Ninomachi-suji, and at night the danjiri with lit lanterns are displayed at Honmachi-Ninomachi.
[Shinko Festival]
The main festival is a spectacular sight, led by a mikoshi procession, a demon procession, and nine gorgeous danjiri floats paraded through the castle town.
