Summer amnesty ceremony (passing through a grass ring) Nagoshinooharaishiki
Date: Sunday, June 30, 2024
On June 30th, which marks the end of the first half of the year, the summer purification ceremony is held.
During the festival, we purify the sins and impurities that have accrued to our bodies and minds during the past six months, and pray for good health in the second half of the year.
In front of the shrine, a 3-meter-diameter ``cogon grass ring'' has been set up, and those who perform exorcisms during the summer months of Minazuki pass through this ring three times while chanting ``Thousand Years of Life Butoifunari.'' In addition, a doll made of paper is used as a katashiro to represent the person and is exorcised into the Ote River.
