The lotuses at Motoyama Senshuji, a Shinshu Takada school, are in full bloom.

The national treasures ``Miei-do'' and ``Nyorai-do'' are surrounded by pots of lotuses that are said to bloom in the Pure Land. There are about 35 varieties! Each flower is unique and beautiful.

Also, from the end of July onwards, the lotus pond will be at its peak. Approximately 1000 lotus plants are planted here, making it a sight to behold. There are also carp and turtles swimming in the pond, so you can enjoy the coolness.

The best time to see lotuses in both pots and ponds is said to last until early August.

Lotus flowers open slowly at sunrise, and many of them close around noon. The trees are in full bloom between 8:00 and 9:00, so we recommend arriving early.

The spacious grounds are lined with national treasures and nationally designated important cultural properties. You can also view the inside of the temple. Please come and enjoy the beautiful architecture along with the lotus flowers.

The reason lotus flowers are often used in Buddhism is because they are said to be the flower of the Pure Land in Buddhist scriptures. Just like the lotus that blooms out of the mud into a beautiful flower untainted by the mud, I hope that those of us who are surrounded by worldly desires will realize the salvation of the Buddha and one day become Buddhas with pure hearts.

I moved to Mie when I went to university and fell in love with the people, food, and nature of Mie! We will capture the scenery of Mie with a camera and provide exciting information.
I go to see the lotuses at Senshuji Temple every year. I would like to visit again this year when the lotus pond is in full bloom!
