Misetani Shrine is located in Odai Town, Taki District, Mie OdaiTown, Ise Province.

The origin of Misetani Shrine is not certain due to lack of documentation and oral history, but according to it, Wahime no Mikoto came up along the Miyagawa River in search of the enshrined place of Amaterasu Omikami.
At that time, the mikoshi was stopped at the current site of Mise's ferry, and a shrine was erected at that location.
The shrine had a long history and was revered by local people, so it is said that Misetani Shrine was founded in the early Edo period (approximately 1630s) when local people from the Sawara area deified the shrine and built it. Masu.
After that, the Meiji government promoted joint enshrinement, and shrines in the surrounding area were enshrined together, forming today's Misetani Shrine.
On April 28, 2010, the main shrine of Misetani Shrine was selected as a registered tangible cultural property of the country.

In May 2020, a new goshuin stamp with an original design by illustrator Suzunagon will be released.
As a note, you can receive it even if the chief priest is not present.

Misetani Shrine, Chief Priest Ueda: ``Many shrines are deeply connected to Japanese people and the people who live in the area, and we want to express the fact that they have been passed down from ancient times to the present day, and the characteristics of Misegaya Shrine.'' In response to our requests, we designed designs with motifs of people from various eras and plants of each of the four seasons that grow at Misetani Shrine (cherry blossoms, gardenias, autumn leaves, and plums).
There are four types, but they are not limited to a limited time, so you can receive them whenever you visit. ”
