Shigure clam Shigure clam
Kuwana's famous ``shigure clam'' is made by selecting large clams before spawning and boiling them in tamari. At first it was called boiled clam, but it was named ``shigure clam'' by the haiku poet Kagami Shiko because it was delicious when made during the rainy season in October. Even today, it is highly appreciated as a long-lasting souvenir.
