Relationship between IseJingu and Ama divers
Ama are female fishermen who collect seafood by free diving, and ama fishing has been practiced for over 3,000 years. It is said that once, when Yamatohime no Mikoto visited Kuzaki in Toba, she was so moved by the deliciousness of the abalone offered by the local ama divers that she ordered her to offer it to Amaterasu-Omikami every year. .
Since then, it has been considered a lucky charm that brings longevity, and thinly sliced and stretched ``Noshi Abalone'' is used as an offering to Amaterasu-Omikami.
