Iga Ueno Castle, a landmark of Ueno Park and a must-see for its high stone walls

Even within Ueno Park, which is packed with attractions such as the Ninja Museum and the Basho Old Man Memorial Museum, Iga Ueno Castle stands out. You will be captivated by its majestic appearance.

The high stone wall, about 30 meters from the moat, is one of the tallest in Japan. It's spectacular whether you look at it from above or look up from below! It's fun to imagine things like ``The ninja hiding in the moat is this Takagaki...''. The Danjiri Kaikan Ninja Transformation Center is also nearby, and you can often see people walking around the castle in ninja costumes.

The highlight of the main castle tower is its stunning three-tier castle. From the top floor of the beautiful white castle, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Iga's cityscape.

A rare experience unique to Iga. Explore the ninja mansion in ninja cosplay!

NinjaMUSEUMofIgaryu (Ninja House), where a kunoichi (female ninja) will guide you through a karakuri mansion, is a must-visit spot when you come to Iga-Ueno. He will explain things like donden gaeshi, trick doors, hiding things, etc. with demonstrations. The impressive ninja show using real ninja tools, as well as ninjutsu experiences such as throwing shuriken and twisting turns, are also popular.

To make your trip to Iga even more exciting, we recommend changing into a ninja costume at Danjiri Kaikan's Ninja Transformation Center and walking around. If you walk around the ninja mansion and castle town dressed as a ninja, you'll be able to take lots of fun photos of your trip. No reservations are required and there are many sizes to choose from, but it's so popular that there may be lines on Saturdays and Sundays. You can rent it from 10:00 to 16:00 (entrance fee to Danjiri Kaikan is required separately), so leave your luggage and take a stroll around the city in a light ninja costume!

A visit to the hometown of MatsuoBasho with many heart-touching haiku poems.

``Haiseiden'' has a cute colon and round roof shape. It has a unique design that resembles Basho's travels, with the round roof representing a hat hat, the octagonal eaves representing a kesa, and the pillars representing canes.

At Basho's Birthplace, there is a monument with the haiku ``I cry over my old hometown and my umbilical cord at the end of the year,'' in which Basho returned home, found his umbilical cord, and wept over his longing for his deceased parents and hometown. The quiet and quaint ``Minomushian'' is home to a famous monument with the haiku ``An old pond, the sound of water when a frog jumps in''.

The Basho Memorial Museum is full of valuable materials. Why not deepen your knowledge of haiku by visiting places associated with Basho?
