Special feature on parks in KihokuTown, OwaseCity, Kumano KumanoCity, Mihama MihamaTown, and KihoTown!

As the name suggests, ``Tsubaki Garden of the World'' is a park where 753 types of camellia bloom from Japan and abroad.
We'll also introduce a total of 9 other popular spots, including the Akagi Castle Ruins, known as the Castle in the Sky, and KihochoUmigamePark where you can interact with sea turtles.

 

 

TanemakiGonbei-no-Sato (KihokuTown)

TanemakiGonbei-no-Sato

This facility was built in honor of Gonbe, who is famous for the folk song, ``If Gonbe sows, the crows will come...''
Inside the park, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through a magnificent Japanese garden in the style of a stroll around the forest and springs, as well as the ``Gonbei House,'' which exhibits items related to Mr. Gonbei and folklore materials from KihokuTown. The museum's exhibition room and tea room can also be used as a place for cultural training.

Kumanonada Rinkai Park (Kihoku Town, KihokuTown)

This park in KihokuTown has an overall plan of 555.6 hectares and was developed with the aim of becoming a recreational city where you can refresh your mind and body by making use of the rich nature.
In addition to Magotaro auto campsite, there are Mt. Takatsuka observation deck, tennis courts, open spaces, and a multipurpose ground.

Owase Ozoneura Park "The World's Camellia Garden" (OwaseCity)

A total of 753 types of camellia, 544 domestic and 187 foreign, and approximately 2,500 bush camellias, the city's flower, have been planted.
Camellias are planted in a grove of cedar trees and bushes of camellias, leaving the natural environment untouched, and camellias are planted on moss-covered rocky slopes.
Strolling along the promenade in the park while admiring the camellias will fill your mind and body with refreshment. Located on a hill in the Ozone area, it is a great spot with great views of Owase Bay and the islands.
To ensure that you can enjoy it for a long time, we have planted varieties ranging from early blooming varieties that start blooming in September to late blooming varieties that can be enjoyed until around May.

You can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, green cedars and ferns in summer, and autumn leaves of maples in autumn.

Magoshi Park (OwaseCity)

Lined with 300 cherry blossom trees, the stone-paved road retains the appearance of the old Kumano Kaido, making it one of the few walking paths that remind you of the past. If you climb the nearby Tengukurayama, you can get a panoramic view of Owase. There is also an Owase-bushi poetry monument in the park with Owase-bushi songs written on it.

Nakamurayama Park (OwaseCity)

It overlooks the town of Owase and is also famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot. There is a monument to the poet Miyahiroji and the Municipal Astronomical Science Museum.

Sone Castle Ruins (Shiroyama Park) (OwaseCity)

This castle ruins is located on the top of Shiroyama, 180m above sea level, rising to the southwest of Sone Town, and is a natural mountain castle also known as Ichimejo Castle, Sugi Castle, or Tsutsuji Castle. In spring, the purple azaleas are in full bloom, and the view of the entire Wannai area is spectacular.

Akagi Castle Ruins (Akagi Castle Park) and Tahirako Pass Execution Ground Ruins (KumanoCity)

Akagi Castle is a flat mountain castle built by Todo Takatora, a master TakatoraTodo builder, using a combination of medieval and early modern castle construction methods, and has castle functions that can be considered the embryo of early modern castles. Also, the castle ruins floating in the morning mist are so fantastic that they are said to be castles in the sky. There are many cherry blossoms in the main building, and it is also known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.

MihamaTown Teratani General Park (Mihama Town, MihamaTown)

A general park located almost in the center of town, with a playing field and tennis courts. There is a promenade along the ridge of the park, and the view of the Pacific Ocean and Kishu mountains from the observation deck is spectacular.
In addition, water lilies are planted in the scenic pond in the park, and from May to early September, beautiful water lily flowers bloom all over the pond, delighting visitors.

Michi-no-eki“ KihochoUmigamePark” (Kihocho, Minamuro KihoTown)

"KihochoUmigamePark" Sea Turtle Fureai Park breeds and researches sea turtles, and you can observe real sea turtles swimming from above the pool and from the underwater window. Also popular are the saltwater fish tank that swims in the Kumano Sea and the touching pool where you can interact with seaside creatures. We also hold events where you can actually touch sea turtles (admission is free).
