kahadavalley which is also designated as a prefectural natural park, is a gorge along the Kushida River that flows in the western part MatsusakaCity Mie Prefecture.
This time, we will introduce six particularly recommended summer spots in kahadavalley.
Enjoy the beautiful summer scenery!

I went around!

◆Article creation: Hanachiro

A father of a naughty daughter and a selfish son who lives in IseCity.
There tends to be an increase in photos of children looking like idiots (lol), but do they look energetic, fun, and cute? We are active with this motto!
After actually going out with my family, I'm sharing the charms of Mie that I highly recommend.
Itumi tea plantation

The first area we will introduce is the tea plantation that stretches from Iitaka-cho to Iinan-cho in MatsusakaCity.

In fact, Mie Prefecture is the third largest tea producer in Japan, and here in kahadavalley, green mountains and tea plantations stretch along the Kushida River.

Speaking of tea plantations, Shizuoka Prefecture is famous for its scenery, but the tea plantations of kahadavalley, where the valley and mountains harmonize, are also beautiful.

Personally, I recommend the Ayumi district of Iinan town, where you can see a large panoramic view of the tea plantations, and the tea plantations across the Kushida River that can be seen from the Mukaikami district, which is on the opposite bank of the Kushida River!

Michinoeki Chakura (Michi-no-eki Chakura)

The next place to introduce is Michi-no-eki Chakura.

This is located on a hill along the Kushida River, and if you cross the adjacent red suspension bridge you will reach the outdoor camping facility ``Riverside Chakura''.

There is an observation deck leading up to the suspension bridge, and the stairs along the way offer a nice view as well.

If you run up to the observation deck, you can see the tea plantations and Kushida River below.

I quickly followed the happy child up the stairs, and by the time we reached the observation deck, my knees were shaking.

Please take your time and take in the scenery as you climb the stairs (lol)

Dandan rice field in Fukano

Next, I would like to introduce rice terraces in the Fukano area of Iinan-cho MatsusakaCity.

Dandan rice fields in Fukano are rare rice terraces made of stone embankments and have been selected as one of Japan's top 100 rice terraces.

These terraced rice fields are also known as ``stone art,'' and the stonework resembles a castle wall or stone wall.

Beautiful stepped green fields that harmonize with the sky and the countryside!

There is a parking lot with a clean toilet in Dandanden in Fukano.
Please park your car and take a walk along the narrow slopes of rice terraces.

The rice terraces are full of slopes, so a walk here will give you a good workout.

It was a sweaty walk for my family, but my 2-year-old son was the only one moving gracefully on my back (lol)

Mezurashi-togePass (Mezurashitoge)

This is Mezurashi-togePass with its mysterious scenery.
A refreshing river breeze was blowing through the pass along the exposed rock surface.

The clear air and river breeze will soothe your mind and body.

*There is no parking lot nearby, so you will have to follow the walking course from Michi-no-eki Iidaka.

There are many small streams along the way to Mezurashi-togePass.
It's great to take a break and dip your feet in the cold water flowing down from the mountains.

My 3-year-old daughter was also enthusiastic about walking along the way.
My 2-year-old son mainly moved around in my arms, but he was taking a break to cool his feet more than anyone else (lol).

Sinking bridge (Chinkabashi)

There are a total of eight submerged bridges across kahadavalley.

During the rainy season, it often literally sinks into the river, but on sunny days you can see the quaint submerged bridge spanning the crystal clear stream.

You can see some of the submerged bridges even from National Route 166, so if you are not driving, please take your time and look at the Kushida River.
Tea factory Kahada

If you want to enjoy summer at kahadavalley, there are some must-haves, right?

yes! It's shaved ice (lol)

Lastly, I would like to introduce a shop in Iidaka town that serves delicious shaved ice, which is a summer tradition!

This shop is ``Tea Kobo Kahada'' located along National Route 166.

Usually they sell deep-steamed tea grown in kahadavalley, but during the summer you can also enjoy exquisite shaved ice.

The ``Green Tea Ice'' and ``Hojicha Ice'', which are topped with handmade bean paste and milk that almost spills over, have a very rich but not too sweet flavor, and once you try them, you'll never forget them!
``Japanese black tea'' has a refreshing summery taste and is also recommended.

In my family, we don't feel like summer has arrived until we eat shaved ice from this shop, so we visit here every year (lol)

My son had a shaved ice bigger than his face all to himself and was stuffing his cheeks with satisfaction (lol)

The restaurant is so popular that its large parking lot fills up every year, but in 2021, due to coronavirus infection prevention measures, dine-in dining is not allowed, and only take-out service is available.
You can enjoy freshly made shaved ice in the eating and drinking space set up outside the store, so be sure to stop by this store when you visit kahadavalley.
