A hidden scenic spot! Beautiful hydrangeas at MiyaRiverWataraiPark

掲載日:2021.06.24

Hello, my name is Yuto Nakase and I am a photographer in Mie Prefecture.

If you're wondering, "Where are the best hydrangea spots in Mie Prefecture?"
There are some good points.
The hydrangeas blooming on both sides of the road are a truly spectacular sight.
What's more, it's so versatile that you can enjoy it whether it's sunny or rainy.

We will introduce the highlights and photography techniques of the hydrangeas at MiyaRiverWataraiPark.

As you can see in the photo, MiyaRiverWataraiPark has hydrangeas on both sides.
It's a simple yet fantastic sight.

parking

By setting your car navigation system to the location of the public restroom on this map, you can go to the parking lot closest to the hydrangea spot.

Recommended timing for shooting

We recommend shooting from afternoon to evening.
The way the setting sun hits the hydrangeas, creating a spotlight-like effect, adds to the magical atmosphere.

Recommended photography equipment

  • Medium telephoto lens (equivalent to 70mm to 135mm)
  • Macro lens (90mm, 105mm equivalent, etc.)
  • Tripod (bring it if you have it)

This is what it looks like when my friend and I take a photo of hydrangeas together in the setting sun.
The light that appears in the upper right corner is called flare, and can be created using an old lens or an image editing software called Photoshop.

This photo was created using Photoshop to create flare.
If you are interested in image editing, please give it a try.

If you have a macro lens, which allows you to get closer to the subject, try taking photos of hydrangeas on their own.

The tips for shooting are as follows.

  1. Hydrangea is in the shadow
  2. The background is only grass and is illuminated by light.
  3. Beautiful shape and color of hydrangea
  4. The focus is on the center of the flower closest to you.
  5. Set the aperture (F number) to the smallest value (open)

The conditions for taking photos are surprisingly difficult, but the sense of accomplishment when you get a shot is so strong.

MiyaRiverWataraiPark is attractive even on rainy days.
I took this photo on a very rainy day, but the hydrangeas and rain go really well together.
An umbrella or raincoat is essential for shooting on rainy days. It's also a good idea to have a towel in case you get wet.

I got close to the hydrangea and crouched down to take the photo.
Not only does the hydrangea appear large, but you can also clearly see the raindrops falling on the ground.
I was able to take photos that are truly unique to June.
