Hashtag photo contest “#travelowase” will start on September 1st on SNS in Owase OwaseCity, Mie Prefecture! In this contest, we are looking for photos that will give you the feeling of traveling to Owase! Let's take some wonderful photos in OwaseCity and post them with the hashtag "#travelowase" ☆


The rainiest city in Japan? A world heritage site, Kumano Kodo, a paradise for fish?
What kind of image do you have of Owase City, OwaseCity Prefecture?
In this OwaseCity SNS Hashtag Photo Contest, we are looking for photos that will give you the feeling of traveling in Owase!

We offer prizes that are typical of Owase, such as gorgeous spiny lobsters, dried fish​ ​sets, and a whole yellowtail. We will give away gifts to 20 people every month.
Furthermore, the 10 people selected as the annual winners may win even more luxurious prizes...

*When going out, please practice a "new lifestyle" and take measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
・Avoiding the “three Cs” (crowds, close quarters, and closed spaces)
・Ensuring distance between people
・Wear a mask when talking
・Hand hygiene such as hand washing, etc.

◆Owase Itadaki City
Timing: All year round, first Saturday of every month (*Also held on the first and third Saturday in December, closed in January)
A famous morning market held at Owase Fish Market on the first Saturday of every month. Fresh fish, dried fish, and specialty products that can only be purchased in Owase are on display. We also recommend getting up a little early, watching the sunrise over Owase Bay, and grabbing some breakfast!

◆Fish market
Season: All year round
A market where seafood from Owase, a city blessed with a rich ocean, gathers. A variety of seafood is landed depending on the season, and the area is full of life. The sight of fishing boats and fishermen heading out to sea in the morning glow is also picturesque.

◆Tenma Embankment
Season: All year round

◆Elephant's back
Season: All year round
The Elephant Back on Magose-togePass, which is connected to the World Heritage Kumano Kodo Magose Pass, is sure to be Instagrammable! It's a hiking course for those with strong legs, but it's worth going once in a lifetime! You can see the scenery.

◆Kuki Town
Season: All year round
Kuki Town is the birthplace of the Kuki Suigun. Nostalgic scenery such as the crystal clear sea and fishing boats spread throughout the town. “Fishing boats floating in the sea” is actually trending on Twitter!

◆Breasted Kajika
Kajiga Town is famous for the Haraso Festival, and the local cuisine, aburi, prepared by local mothers, is also exquisite. Strolling around the town of Kajiga, buying aburi for an evening drink, and returning to your hotel...recommended!

◆Magose Pass
Season: All year round
In 2004, Kumano Kodo was registered as a cultural heritage site as the only road in the world that connects three different religions and is a symbol of the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism. Of course, pay attention to the cobblestone pavement of Magoshi Pass, which is one of the most beautiful Magose-togePass Kodo routes, as well as the ferns and Owase cypress! ◆Doi Bamboo Forest
Season: All year round
This bamboo forest was transplanted from Satsuma by the Doi family, a forestry family dating back to the Edo period. The bamboo grove spreads over approximately 4,000 square meters, making you feel as if you have traveled back in time!

◆Owase Shrine
Season: All year round
Owase Shrine is the guardian deity of this region. It is beneficial for success in love! A couple of camphor trees that are over 1,000 years old stand tall. There is also a legend that if you touch the knob of a female camphor tree, you will be blessed with an heir, so it is also popular as a sacred kounogi for blessing children.

◆Iwayado
Season: All year round
A huge stone temple located near Magose-togePass Pass on the Kumano Kodo, a world heritage site. Approximately 30 stone Buddha statues, which are folk cultural assets of the city, are enshrined inside the hall. Gorori is so powerful! Is it the work of Buddha that it doesn't roll?
