You are bound to scream! A thrilling adventure where you can bathe in a waterfall! I had a unique experience at Taki Ducky. (Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Campsite: Kiho Town, KihoTown)

掲載日:2020.07.17

Do-do-do-do-do. The roaring sound of water falling from a height of about 30 meters (equivalent to the 8th floor of a building!) hitting the waterfall basin. And we were welcomed by droplets that looked like snow. It may have been a little too easy to say that I was welcomed. We are about to ride Ducky and attack the roaring waterfall basin. Come on, if you can come here, come here.'' I thought I heard a voice like that coming from Hisetsu-no-takiFalls. There is also a video of the Waterfall Ducky experience at the end of the article. Please join us until the end.

Two adults tremble before seeing Waterfall Ducky for the first time. Huh... are you really okay?

My friend Tommy and I (Hamaji) accepted the invitation from Mr. Satake, a staff member at Tobiyuki Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Campsite in KihoTown, to experience Waterfall Ducky. What is Taki Ducky? But it looks fun! We headed to Hisetsu-no-takiFalls campsite in high spirits.

We were blessed with pleasant weather, and enjoyed the drive while having carefree conversations like, ``I want to go to the water soon.'' After that, I never thought something like that would happen...

It has an overwhelming presence that you notice as soon as you arrive at Hisetsu-no-takiFalls campsite. That's not the waterfall I know of.

Tommy: “Isn’t it dangerous?”

Hamaji: “Hey (this must be canceled).”

Do-do-do-do-do-do!

Contrary to its gentle name, "Flying Snow," the sound of a waterfall resounds violently. I was simply stunned by the scene in front of me. Isn't it a mistake to say heavy snow instead of flying snow?
However, the spray is a snow-like mist and feels very nice. Ah, it's soothing. I want to keep looking at this forever.

In fact, there was heavy rain a few days ago, so the amount of water Hisetsu-no-takiFalls had increased. We encountered a truly spectacular Hisetsu-no-takiFalls. Then Mr. Satake from the campsite appears. In front of us who are anxious

Mr. Satake: ``It's a lot of water, but you can experience it like this. It's even more impressive and awesome.''

he declared with a smile.

I brace myself as I am faced with the unshakable fact that I am about to experience the famous activity at Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Campsite, ``Taki Ducky''.

But... in this case, he's not a man! A mysterious masculinity pushed me back.

Hamaji: (...wait for it, Hisetsu-no-takiFalls.)

Change into a wet suit in the clean shower room and get ready!

After checking in at the front desk, I went to the shower room to change my clothes.
Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Campground, which was reopened in 2018, has cottages, a shop, a shower room, and plenty of facilities, and is clean so you can change clothes with peace of mind.
Is the water temperature low and cold this time? So, I rented a wet suit and was in perfect condition.

We were still a little nervous as we faced the waterfall again. By the way, life jackets are available for rent for children and those who are concerned about swimming.

Strangely enough, I feel like I have become stronger when I wear a wetsuit. I'm fired up! I'm fired up! While encouraging themselves, they carry today's companion "Ducky" prepared for them.

Here we go! To the waterfall basin of Hisetsu-no-takiFalls.

...And before that, we will receive a lecture on paddle operation from Mr. Satake, a staff member of Hisetsu-no-takiFalls campsite.
Hold the paddle at about shoulder width and use the side of the spoon to splash the water! That's what he said. We can hear it even while receiving the lecture.
"Dododo dododo! (Come on, hurry up and come over here!)" the voice of Hisetsu-no-takiFalls beckons.

The location is like a scene from a movie. Let's try Waterfall Ducky for the first time!

Now it's time for the real thing. First, we boarded the ducky and practiced using the paddle in shallow water.
As soon as you get in the car, you notice Ducky's sense of security. Ducky is extremely stable. Even children can experience this with peace of mind.

Ducky, your reliable companion with sufficient buoyancy and sturdy fabric, is actually a type of vehicle called an ``inflatable kayak.''
Looking at the back view of us riding on this kayak as we move along the water surface, does it look like something? Those who have noticed this are very intelligent. That's right, it's called "Ducky" because it looks like a duck.

And Ducky is also excellent at turning around. There is also a hole at the bottom to drain water, so water will not accumulate on the seat. Ducky is there just to plunge into the waterfall! It's no exaggeration to say that.

Tommy: “Okay, let’s go!”

After about 5 minutes of paddle practice, we made our first try at the waterfall. Since I was wearing a wetsuit, the coldness of the water was no problem at all.
However, as we got closer, the wind from the waterfall became stronger, and the squall-like water falling from the waterfall made us feel uneasy, and our paddle operations became inconsistent. And here comes the problem.

Seriously, "Tommy stop!...Eyes, eyes."

Imagine if a normal person could keep their eyes open amidst the rushing water.
I couldn't do it. So put on your goggles!
By the way, my buddy Tommy seems to be fine without goggles (maybe because he's a surfer?).

An exhilarating feeling that blows away all your worries. Can you reach the waterfall basin pocket?

I'll pull myself together and try again. Yes Yes Yes! As Tommy and I paddle in unison, our Ducky gains momentum.

Hamaji: “(This momentum…I can do it!)”

With such confidence, we quickly approached the waterfall where the sound of the waterfall resounded!

I suddenly look up. What a spectacular sight of a waterfall with a strong presence.
The feeling gradually becomes sharper as you operate the paddle engrossed. Even though we were supposed to be in the middle of the intense sound of the waterfall and the spray falling down with great force, it became quiet and the scene in front of us seemed to be playing in slow motion...I couldn't believe this was a zone of hyper-concentration! ?

Paddle operations are synchronized with Tommy. Our feelings are one! I just want to plunge into a waterfall.
And that time has finally come. When we were hit by the waterfall, we lost ourselves and let out a roar as we watched the scene change in an instant.

-Wow!

In any case, everything in front of me was completely white, and it was like being in a blizzard. Still, I won't stop using the paddles. If you don't move forward, you'll soon be swept backwards.
As I continued rowing, I arrived at a place where I could touch the rock wall of the waterfall basin. The place where you can stay without using the paddle is the ``Waterhole Pocket'' (named by Hamaji) located behind the waterfall.

A mysterious space that will make you forget that you are inside a waterfall. As Ducky makes a drum-like sound due to the waterfall, you will be intoxicated by the exhilarating feeling of emptying your head.

And...he survived safely from the waterfall!

When we reached the shore, the two of us could do nothing but laugh, feeling the exhilaration of being bathed in the waterfall and the relief of returning safely.
Waterfall Ducky is a shocking experience from another dimension. It was so great.

Safe even in spring and autumn. There is also a combination plan that includes a tent sauna and a monolithic slide.

After experiencing Waterfall Ducky, relax and enjoy a refreshing refill at the waterfall basin. Being hit by a waterfall will help you forget your worries and feel refreshed. I may not be able to live without waterfalls anymore.

If the weather is nice, you can even see a rainbow at Hisetsu-no-takiFalls. It's as if the rainbow is blessing us with our survival from the waterfall.

Also, for those who want to cool down their body and get cold, we highly recommend using a tent sauna. Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Campsite is also known as the ``Sacred Land of Tent Sauna''. If you pair it with a wetsuit and a tent sauna, you can enjoy the experience without worry even in spring and autumn when you may be worried about the water being a bit cold.

While warming up in the tent sauna, I reflected on today's events. When we arrived at Hisetsu-no-takiFalls campsite, we were filled with anxiety. Now, my body is itching to experience that mind-whitening exhilaration that I experienced at Waterfall Ducky again.

By the way, the only place in Japan where you can experience waterfall ducky is "Hisetsu-no-takiFalls Campsite". If you've read to the end, please try out Waterfall Ducky like we did.

Don't forget to prepare in advance by watching the video ``Taki Ducky, the exciting adventure of bathing Hisetsu-no-takiFalls no Taki Campsite''.
