TobaCity in winter is full of charm! Enjoy all-you-can-eat Uramura oysters, which are very popular, and get your fill of the local gourmet "Toburger"!
Of course, don't forget to visit the scenic spots ♪ Check out the report of our 1-night, 2-day trip to enjoy the charm of Toba in winter!
(*This is an interview article from December 2017)

The purpose of this trip was to enjoy Toba's seafood while taking photos of gourmet food and scenery that would look good on social media.
The "TobaCity Tourist Information Center" next to the ticket gate of Kintetsu "Toba Station" is the starting point of your trip!

The information center is stocked with pamphlets focusing on the Ise-Shima area.
All the photos are beautiful and worth seeing!

No need to worry about rain on this trip. At this information center, you can rent out original umbrellas with TobaCity 's catchphrase ``Toba in Love'' free of charge.

The dugong pattern at TobaAquarium is cute. Take this with you and explore Toba's attractive spots!

Next, we headed to Toba 1st Avenue, a shopping building in front of JR/Kintetsu Toba Station.
There are over 20 souvenir specialty stores and restaurants inside the building, so you can enjoy shopping.

First, I went to Cafe Cherry on the 3rd floor, where you can eat TobaCity 's local burger, Toburger.

``Toburger'' is fried octopus caught on Toshijima Island in TobaCity, topped with nuts in a slightly sweet homemade sauce.
The best match between fried octopus and sauce!
There are over 10 types of ``Toburgers'' certified by TobaCity, and the ingredients and shapes vary depending on the store. It looks like it would be fun to try out different foods and compare them ♪

Craving for something sweet, I headed to Minerva Ice Corner on the 1st floor.
You will be surprised by the wide variety of local gelato made with Ise-Shima ingredients such as Iwato salt and Ise GreenTea!

After much deliberation, I ordered the seasonal "Golden Kinko Imo" flavor.
A kind staff member brought it to me.
In the Toba and Shima regions, kinko (dried sweet potato) has been a popular snack for divers and fishermen.
Recommended for those who like sweet potatoes.

Next, we looked for souvenirs unique to Ise-Shima.
I arrived at "Blanca Toba 1st Avenue" on the 2nd floor.
Speaking of `` Blanca'', it is famous for ``Shell Reine'', a sweet that is shaped like a pearl oyster. Let's make this a souvenir!

Mr. Nagata, a staff member with a wonderful smile.
The selling point of this restaurant is that you can eat ``freshly baked shell reine'' that you can't find anywhere else. When freshly baked, the rich aroma of butter and the deliciousness of the eggs stand out, making it a true gem of a sweet!

At Toba 1st Avenue, there is a concierge who will tell you how to enjoy your trip to Toba.
Thank you for giving us information on gourmet food and scenic spots! Having enjoyed Toba 1st Avenue to the fullest, let's move on to the next spot!

For lunch, I went to ``All-you-can-eat Maruzen Suisan'' to try Toba's specialty, ``Uramura oysters.''
It's a luxury to be able to eat in a house floating on the sea while looking out at the beautiful Toba Bay!

Of course, I ordered the "All-you-can-eat sea-grilled oysters" (for one adult).
Fresh oysters are really juicy! No wonder it's called "milk of the sea."

The all-you-can-eat oysters come with a ``fried oyster set meal'' or ``fried oyster bowl.''
You can choose whichever you like. It's the ultimate choice.
Even when fried, the meat is thick and filling.

Next, we visited TobaObservatory Osukuni Kuraou, a spot where you can enjoy a spectacular view.
It takes about 10 minutes by car from Maruzen Suisan.
Located on the summit of Mt. Hakoda at an altitude of 162 meters, it is said that you can enjoy a spectacular view from the Chita Peninsula to Daiozaki in Shima. I'm looking forward to it.

"VistaMare" is a restaurant located within the facility with a view of the ocean.
It is the only restaurant in the Tokai region that has been selected as one of Japan's top 30 restaurants with spectacular views in the world.
It's great that you can enjoy the beautiful ocean from every seat.

CUBE BOX is a shop with a variety of products perfect for souvenirs, such as seafood and local sake.
Don't miss the skin care products that make use of local ingredients.

This is TobaObservatory Shokukoku Zao's original "Toburger".
This is a croquette burger containing spiny lobster, and the sauce also uses spiny lobster. It has a visually impressive look, so it looks great on SNS! It is sold at "VistaMare" and the snack corner "Haneyasume".

Let's go see the spectacular scenery of the "original scenic postcard"!

It's about a 10 minute walk from TobaObservatory. Arrived at "TobaObservatory".
The endless sky and sea are beautiful!

The view of the mountain side from another location is also amazing!
I was able to take a photo with a good composition, with "Pearl Road" running through the mountains in the middle.

This photo was posted on SNS and was taken from the sea side on a sunny day.
The sea is so beautiful!
Try taking photogenic photos at the observation deck with a 360 degree view!

This is the first sunrise of the year. The sunrise is indescribably beautiful.
The parking lot will be open from 2am on January 1st only, so why not watch next year's first sunrise from TobaObservatory?

About 10 minutes by car from "TobaObservatory Shokukokuzao", we arrived at today's accommodation.
``Resort Hills Toyohama Sorakaze'' is located in osatsu Town, which has long been known as a town for divers and fishermen.

A lobby with a spacious atmosphere that exudes a sense of luxury.
The front entrance is barrier-free, and the building is friendly to the elderly.

As the theme is “Lobby that will make you smile,” there are various tricks!
This is a "hammock" that is popular among people of all ages.
The terrace is open in spring and autumn, and you can relax and enjoy the sea breeze.

There is also a “fish footbath” next to the lobby, which is surprising!
Those staying overnight can have a lot of fun just in the lobby.

The room you will stay in is a ``Western-style Japanese room'' with an open-air hot spring bath.
Get excited to the max with its modern Japanese style and warm atmosphere! In a room like this, you'll want to stay for many nights!

On the top floor, there is an ``observation room'' that takes advantage of its location on a hill along the sea.
We recommend viewing the view at sunrise or dusk. The scenery changes depending on the direction, and you can enjoy the scenery of Ise-Shima.

The "fun of the trip" dinner is a "Kaiseki meal" using plenty of local ingredients such as fresh seafood caught in Ise-Shima, Matsusaka beef and local chicken.
I was impressed by the taste and appearance of the many carefully prepared dishes.

I was very satisfied that I was able to achieve the purpose of my trip: ``Enjoying seafood and taking photos of gourmet food and spectacular scenery that will look good on SNS''! It was a fun trip and I was able to enjoy many of the charms of Toba in winter.
