At Magotaro Auto Camp's "Entire Sea Experience", both adults and children can "experience net fishing and fisherman's food"!

掲載日:2019.05.04

At Magotaro Auto Camp in KihokuTown, a new experience menu "Whole Sea Experience" has started from April 2019. This is a collaboration project with the adjacent offshore fishing pond "Shotokumaru", and the appeal is that you can thoroughly enjoy everything from fish procurement to cooking. We have covered not only information about Magotaro Auto Camp, but also detailed information about the ``Entire Sea Experience'' that the whole family can enjoy.

Only 10 minutes by car from nagashima Interchange on the Kisei Expressway.
"Magotaro Auto Camp" located in Kihoku-cho, Kitamuro-gun, KihokuTown is an auto campsite surrounded by the sea and mountains, rich in nature.

We interviewed Magotaro Auto Camp, which is visited by many people not only from within Mie Prefecture but also from outside the prefecture, and the staff's recommended experience menu, ``Whole Sea Experience''!

What kind of place is Magotaro Auto Camp?

Magotaro Auto Camp has two types of sections: ``Tent Sites'' and ``Seaside Cottage.'' Tent sites are further divided into Sites A to D and Free Sites.

This is "Site A" by the sea. The row is right next to the sea, so the view is spectacular. Site A has one AC power supply (15A) in each compartment.
The second row across the aisle visible in the foreground of the photo is "Site B." In addition, there are "C Site" and "D Site" on the mountain side (about 50 meters from the sea).

Areas A to D are divided into areas with shrubbery, but there is also a ``free site'' where the lawn is separated by ropes, giving you a sense of freedom.
Magotaro Auto Camp also rents a variety of camping equipment, so it's perfect for people who don't have any camping equipment but want to go camping!

The "seaside cottage area" is located at the far end after entering from the entrance.
If you're a beginner in the outdoors and want to experience nature to the fullest, but don't want to stay in a tent, this cottage might be a good place to start.

Currently recommended experience menu “Whole sea experience”

At Magotaro Auto Camp, you can participate in a variety of experience menus, but we especially recommend the "Whole Sea Experience" that started in April 2019!

In collaboration with the offshore fishing pond "Shotokumaru" near the campsite, we will offer ``① Fish fishing experience'', ``② Red sea bream fishing experience'', ``③ Fish cooking experience'', ``④ Meals (pot rice & fisherman's soup)''. It's a super value experience menu where you can enjoy all four at once for 3,870 yen (tax included)!
Not only hotel guests but also day-trippers are welcome to participate. All the necessary tools will be lent to you, so you can participate empty-handed.

Price: 3,870 yen (tax included) for adults / 3,260 yen (tax included) for elementary school students and younger
Required time: Approximately 3 hours (10:00-13:00)
*Reservations required at least 3 days in advance.
*Minimum 3 people to maximum 20 people
*Please contact Magotaro Auto Camp (0597-47-5371) for details as the event may be temporarily suspended.

Flow of the “Entire Sea Experience”

Those who have reserved the entire ocean experience will first gather at Magotaro Auto Camp at 10am on the day of the event and complete the registration process.
After receiving a brief explanation, we took a special bus to the offshore fishing pond "Shotokumaru"!

It takes about 2-3 minutes to get on the bus and arrive at the Shotokumaru parking lot. After leaving the parking lot and walking for a while, you will find yourself at a "marine fishing pond"!
The offshore fishing pond, with its salty scent, resembles many large rafts connected together.
Even though it is connected to the land, it is floating in the sea, so it can sometimes be swayed by the waves. This swaying feeling is the best part of fishing on the sea, but if you don't like it, you may want to take some motion sickness medicine.

By the way, children under elementary school age are required to wear life jackets at the fishing pond. Life jackets can be rented at the venue.

The first experience in the Marugoto Umi Experience is the "fishing experience."
First, we pull the net of the fish tank and scoop up the seasonal fish that have come up with tamago (once per person). Transfer the scooped fish to a basket, and then put them by hand into a cooler box.

For children who are not familiar with sea creatures, ``touching live fish'' is an unusual experience.
Parents and children will be able to have a lively conversation with questions such as, "What did it feel like?" and "The fish jumped so hard!"

Next is the "Red sea bream fishing experience".
It is an experience where you can fish for a 30cm class red sea bream in a live tank with a fishing rod and experience the strength of its "pull".
According to a staff member, ``He is so strong that if he were a weak person, he would have the rod taken away.''

One person who tried it said that the pull was so strong that it felt like the rod was going to break!
However, the staff at Shotokumaru will follow up with you properly, so you won't be dragged away by the red sea bream and end up in the fish tank. Please don't worry♪

If you catch a nice sea bream, take a commemorative photo!
It's sure to be a good memory not only for children but also for adults. Generally, the red sea bream you catch is returned to the fish tank, but you can also buy it at the market price if you wish.

After completing the experience at the offshore fishing pond, return to Magotaro Auto Camp and begin your cooking experience using the fish you caught during the "net fishing experience."
The menu we make is ``Kamameshi'' and ``Fisherman's soup.'' Can you do it well?

First, carefully remove the scales from the fish.

Next, grate or cut the fish into three pieces.
Nowadays, there are very few opportunities to grate three pieces of fish in daily life. Even though I struggled, I enjoyed the experience and was taught by the staff.

At the time of our interview, the youngest participant was 3 years old! They said they carefully cut the fish into pieces and cooked it with the help of their parents and staff. well done!

While waiting for the kamameshi and fisherman's soup to be made, grill some locally produced dried fish or shellfish while you wait!
KihokuTown which faces the sea, is home to nagashima Port, which boasts one of the highest catches in the prefecture, so there are many restaurants in the town where you can enjoy fresh seafood.
We also recommend enjoying a meal at the end of your camping trip.

While this is happening, the fisherman's soup will be ready.
The kamameshi takes about 20 minutes to cook, so please be patient.

*“Dried fish or shellfish” is for adults only.

After about 20 minutes, the warm and steamy pot rice we made ourselves will be ready!
The kamameshi made with plenty of fresh fish is really delicious. The meal continues to progress.

Cook and eat the fish you caught with your own hands. It will be more than just a ``sea experience''; it will be a wonderful experience that will make you feel the gratitude and weight of ``giving your life''. For children, it seems to be connected to ``food education'' that is based on hands-on experience.
After a delicious meal, the group will disperse around 1:00 p.m.

What else can you do at Magotaro Auto Camp other than the “total sea experience”?

``Entire sea experience'' is one of the many experience menus available at Magotaro Auto Camp.

You can also fish in the sea in front of the campsite.
It seems that the fishing for cod is particularly good from spring to summer.

In addition to camping equipment, Magotaro Auto Camp also rents fishing equipment, so why not try some sea fishing?

Please note that you cannot swim on the shore in front of the campsite, but there is "Jyonohama Beach" about a 3-minute drive away.

If you use Magotaro Auto Camp, you can't miss this view before and after sunset!
The setting sun reflects on the water surface, turning the sea orange, creating a magical scene that is sure to be Instagrammable.

Also, there are almost no lights around Magotaro Auto Camp. Therefore, you can enjoy the starry sky at night.
You might be able to find that star that you can't usually find here.

There is a shower room in the center house of the campsite, but we also recommend taking a day trip bath at our sister hotel, Hotel Tokinoza, which is 3 minutes away by car.
