Nagashima Spaland “HAKUGEI” is finally here! Experience the first hybrid coaster in Japan!

掲載日:2019.03.29

On March 28, 2019, a new roller coaster “HAKUGEI” will be released at Nagashima Spaland! What is Japan's first hybrid coaster? What does it feel like with a tilt angle of 80 degrees and a maximum speed of 107km/h? We will introduce the charm of "Moby Dick" in detail based on the actual test ride experience of "Moby Dick"!

Nagashima Spaland is the largest amusement park in Japan and is known for its many thrilling rides.
He is operating many thrilling machines, including the Steel Dragon 2000, which boasts the world's longest rail with a length of 2,479 meters, Japan's first large-scale flying coaster, Acrobat, and the 4D spin coaster, ARASHI.

And on March 28, 2019, "Moby Dick" newly joined the group! !

This time, with the help of 2018 Tsu Queen Miyuka Nakai, we came to take a test drive! What kind of surprising experience awaits you?

* Nagashima Spaland is located right next to the Wangan nagashima Interchange if you are driving. By public transportation, it takes about 50 minutes by direct bus from Nagoya Station, and from the Osaka area, it takes about 20 minutes by Mie Kotsu bus after getting off at JR/Kintetsu Kuwana Station.

This is in front of the platform for "Moby Dick". It is located in front of the large Ferris wheel Aurora.

Moby Dick is Japan's first and Asia's first hybrid coaster that combines wood and steel.
Along with the thrill of the wooden coaster's swings, vibrations, and squeaks, the steel rails add movements such as somersaults and camelbacks, creating a thrilling and speedy course!

Take a commemorative photo before actually riding. Let's get excited here!

The fee to use HAKUGEI is 1,500 yen per person, and you can also use a vehicle passport.
Available to people over 130cm tall.

Now let's take a test drive!
By the way, it has a belt at the waist and a safety bar that secures the legs and waist, leaving the upper body free. Mr. Nakai's nervousness has also increased to the max!

Check out the video from here!

I will do my best to report with photos!
Immediately after the start, the race progresses steadily on a slightly undulating rail.
So far, it seems like everyone who has taken the test drive is still smiling.

The total length of Moby Dick is 1,530m, and it rises steadily to a maximum height of 55m.
What you see as you go is just like a majestic white whale swimming in the ocean.
Once you reach the highest point, you will descend steeply at a maximum slope of 80 degrees at a maximum speed of 107 km/h! After that, a thrilling experience awaits!

After a steep descent from a height of 55m, you will feel as if you are being thrown out on the ``outside 90 degree bank'' and re-enter the double down of the steep slope. In "Zero G Invert", the vehicle is reversed and you experience the feeling of floating in zero gravity!

The photo shows the vehicle being reversed. It feels like your body and head are being shaken and then suddenly being turned over!

This is what it looked like after passing the zero G invert and running exhilaratingly through the wooden structure!
After this, we experienced the ``Zero G Roll (360 degree corner driving)'', which has a smaller turning radius than a corkscrew and a greater sense of speed, and the ``Inward 90 degree bank'', where the vehicle is directly sideways, almost 90 degrees inward!

The event concludes with a 360-degree corkscrew maneuver.
The course lasts approximately 2 minutes and 40 seconds, but just when I thought my body was moving, it was over in the blink of an eye! That feeling.
If you like screaming machines, you'll want to experience it over and over again! Please give it a try!

*This photo was taken with special permission. Please note that under normal circumstances, you cannot bring your camera with you on the ride.

The large Ferris wheel "Aurora" is one of the symbols of Nagashima Spaland.
It's located right next to the Moby Dick boarding area, so let's take a look at the entire Moby Dick from the sky.

The aurora has a diameter of 83 meters! It is known as one of the most scenic spots in Nagashima Spaland, offering a panoramic view of Ise Bay and the Chita Peninsula.
Moby Dick looks so small!

Now is the moment to start the steep descent! I was shocked to think that he had descended so suddenly from such a height!
It will bring back the excitement you felt when you experienced it.

As you walk through the park, you will encounter the mascot character, Peter Rabbit.
Feel free to take photos, so please feel free to ask!

In addition to the Moby Dick introduced this time, Nagashima Spaland has many other rides that can be enjoyed by both adults and children! Why not go out and have some fun during your holidays?
