Kameyama is a town rich in history, blessed with the rich nature of the Suzuka Mountains, and still retaining its vestiges as a post town on the 53 stations of Tokaido.
Most of the attention is focused on the spots where you can enjoy the seasonal plants and flowers and the historic townscape, but a secret charm is that there are cafes dotted around the area where you can enjoy a relaxing time.
Once you get to know more about its uniqueness, such as its popular Instagram-worthy sweets and nostalgic interior, you'll want to visit at least once.

Approximately 15 minutes by car from the center of KameyamaCity. ``Nobono Craftsman Village'' is a 2,000-square-meter site with workshops and community spaces, and a system where craftsmen of various genres can share warehouses, machine tools, etc.
Among them is the first cafe, ``Natural Yeast, Bread, and Oyatsu Kumu''.

The interior of the store, made with clay walls, is a relaxing space. Light coming in through the windows brightly illuminates the store.

Dried flowers and antique miscellaneous goods are displayed here and there, brightening up the space inside the store. Just looking at the interior of the store makes you feel happy.

The open terrace seating feels great on a sunny day! You can enjoy your meal leisurely while feeling the refreshing breeze.

The signature menu item of this restaurant is the ``Freshly Baked Waffles with Natural Yeast'' (2 pieces 600 yen/excluding tax, 1 piece 350 yen/excluding tax).
The waffles are made with natural yeast and have a ``firm texture'' that is not too sweet.
A lot of seasonal fruits are used and the colors are very beautiful!

“Strawberry and yeast granola parfait” (600 yen/tax included) is another popular menu item that looks great on Instagram.
A delicious combination of fresh strawberries purchased from local strawberry farmers, fragrant yeast granola, and rich vanilla ice cream!

The bread lunch (1,100 yen/excluding tax) made with homemade natural yeast is also a must-see menu item.
The set includes bread, salad, soup, and a drink, and the bread changes monthly. These breads have a delicious chewy texture and are addictive!

Outside the store, there is also a ``pizza kettle'' made by the artisans. When it first opened, they used this oven to bake pizza and held workshops.

This is Maru-kun, the signboard dog! If you're lucky, you might be able to meet Maru-kun at the store, who is full of energy and friendly! ?

``Nobono Craftsman Village'' is home to many craftsmen who love making things, and many workshops have been built on the premises, mainly for architectural craftsmen.
The Craftsman Village values connections with local people, and holds various events and workshops, such as ``Consultation on home protection'' and ``Building pots useful for disaster prevention.''
Currently, events such as furniture making carpentry classes for students are being held in the furniture workshop that was newly built this year.
If you take a peek at the artisans' workshops while having lunch, you might have a new encounter.

About 20 minutes by car from Nobono Shokunin Village, where ``Natural Yeast Bread and Snacks kumu'' is located. Arrived at Sekijuku, which flourished as the 47th post town on the 53 stations Tokaido and still retains the vestiges of the past. In this historic townscape, there is a second cafe, Kominka Café Keep.

The cafe is run by a close couple, and their motto is to ``make everything ourselves.''
I was surprised to learn that all of the desks and interior accessories in the store were made by the two of them!

The miscellaneous goods and accessories displayed in the store were made by the owner, and the designs are so delicate and cute that you wouldn't believe they were made by a man!
On the other hand, his wife is good at pottery, and the pottery displayed in the store is her work. All of them are of a quality that makes you want to take photos.

In a store filled with such a wide variety of accessories, here is one that stands out. This bike is actually used by a couple who love bikes, and they also have many other bikes in their collection!
It's also a fun time to hear from the couple about the decorated interior.

Now, let's order food!
This is a koppepan (380 yen/tax included) that is filled with Kameyama's local gourmet miso-yaki udon.
The fluffy koppepan brings out the deliciousness of the udon noodles soaked in miso sauce!

A large portion of "French toast" (650 yen/tax included) is a must-try during cafe time.
The subtle sweetness of the fluffy dough will make your stomach and heart swell with happiness♪

The dreamy and cute appearance will make you excited! The colorful sweet "Fondant Chocolat" (650 yen/tax included) is a hot topic on social media. Should I eat chocolate or cookies? I can't help but wonder which way to eat it.

During the Meiji period, Kameyama flourished in the production of black tea for export. In recent years, local tea farmers have worked together to revive the brand that was mainly produced, Benihomare. You can enjoy the aromatic tea at this shop!
“Kameyama Tea Kiseki” (580 yen/tax included)

We also offer a variety of morning and lunch menus.
The morning service, which is held from 8:00 to 10:30, is a super value menu where if you order one drink of your choice, you get a breakfast menu of bread or morning gayu for just that price!
There are two types of lunch: ``Rice Lunch'' and ``Bread Lunch'' (950 yen each/tax included), and you can enjoy a weekly menu for each. Check the menu for that day at the store!
The photo shows the ``Seafood Lunch'' (1,250 yen/tax included), a special menu that is offered irregularly only when fresh fish is caught.
The menu, which uses seasonal ingredients in bright colors, is a feast for the eyes!

It has been the couple's long-held dream to create a cafe where they can relax. I finally found an old private house that was exactly as I had envisioned, renovated it, and opened my shop in 2017. His wife previously worked at a cafe, and based on that experience, she takes the lead in creating the dishes and desserts.
I had a very satisfying time with the two of them, having fun stories and a wonderful collaboration of delicious food! Thank you very much♪

``Natural Cafe'' is located in ``Nobono Craftsman Village,'' where you can feel new possibilities in Kameyama, and ``Old Folk House Cafe'' is located in `` Sekijuku,'' a well-known tourist spot.
Each of these two cafes has its own charm that attracts visitors, and during this cafe tour, I learned about the wide range of pleasures that Kameyama has to offer.
