Ago Bay is an inland sea with calm waves, making it the perfect spot for those new to marine sports! Shima Nature School has many experience plans where you can enjoy nature in ShimaCity, including Ago Bay. This time, we tried the most popular sea kayak touring!

``I want to move my body in nature!'' ``I want to refresh myself in nature!'' Activities that allow people to move their bodies in nature such as mountains, oceans, and rivers are popular among people of all generations and genders.

However, there may be some people who are worried that the hurdles seem too high or because they have never experienced it before.
For such people, we also recommend the experience at Shima Nature School in ShimaCity!
Our family of four took on the challenge of ``Ago Bay Sea Kayak Touring,'' which is safe for beginners, including elementary school students, and will refresh your mind and body!

First, when you arrive at the Shima Nature School office, you will complete the registration process.
Next to the reception desk, there is a lot of tourist information about Shima Nature School and nearby areas, so it's a good idea to get some tourist information here.
There are changing rooms and toilets in the office, so you can finish your work here.

When you're ready, head to the sea! It takes about 2 to 3 minutes to reach the experience location by car.

Ago Bay is a quiet inland sea with calm waves. There are about 60 islands of all sizes floating in the sky, and you can see many rafts for cultivating pearls, seaweed, and other crops, creating a landscape unique to ShimaCity.

First of all, put on a life jacket for safety.
You will be wearing this until the end of the experience, so please make sure to fasten your belt and wear it correctly at this point.

The ones for children are brightly colored and have cute designs!
The children seemed to like it too.

When you're ready, grab your paddle and head to the kayak!

There are also lightweight children's paddles, so kids can enjoy the ride easily.
Before departure, the instructor staff will explain the course you will be going on and how to operate the paddle.

The children will actually ride the boat while it is on the beach and learn how to hold the paddle, move forward, reverse, and rotate the boat together.

You don't have to worry about it as it will teach you in a way that even children can understand, as well as beginners!

After receiving the explanation, you can actually get on the kayak and proceed!
The water surface is so close to your body that you feel as if you are one with the sea.

You can rest assured that your instructor will accompany you throughout the experience until the very end.

The instructor advised, ``It's important for the two people in front and behind to get along!'' We row while shouting to each other, "Left, right, left..."
The speed is leisurely and as fast as walking.

Listen to the instructor's guidance and proceed while enjoying the scenery.

Along the way, you can even look into the water with box glasses!
On this day too, we saw jellyfish and small fish swimming around. Children will be surprised by the creatures they can see up close!

The course we tried this time was a 1.5 hour (approximately 2 km) course recommended for beginners and families with children.

As you row the boat, you will see a small uninhabited island called Usagiyama Island.
Just hearing about a deserted island makes me feel excited! I steered the boat as I had been taught and expertly backed up the boat.

I will walk around the rocky area to look for living things.
Big brother is very interested in small crabs!

You can also see starfish, small fish, and in May and June, beautiful blue sea slugs.
In the summer, they go into the sea with snorkels and enjoy swimming in the sea.
It feels like an exploration as you walk through a rocky area with holes like tunnels!

Once you've finished exploring, hop back in your kayak and head back.
By the time dad and brother got back, they were good at operating the paddle! At the end, I sped up a little and had fun.

and return to the original location.
Even for first-timers and children, we had such a fun sea kayaking experience!
