Fresh vegetables picked in the morning, popular Kusa Mochi, Makomo products, and souvenirs that have been popular for many years. “Michi-no-eki Komono” is full of wonderful local products! All of our products are of such high quality that they were even selected as 1st place in the Kansai, Chugoku and Shikoku blocks in the souvenir category of Michi-no-eki Grand Prix.

I came to "Michi-no-eki Komono" along National Route 477 and Yunoyama Kaido!

When you drive from the Yokkaichi direction, you will see a large signboard in the upper right corner.
The building is on the left, right next to the sign.

It was early February when I visited. It was so cold that it was snowing the day before.

Even at a time when vegetables are at a premium, local producers are lining up fresh, splendid vegetables.

When I said to him, ``This cabbage looks delicious,'' the friendly father told me with a smile, ``Here (in my hometown), we sell it for about 50 yen cheaper than elsewhere.''

The cabbage that day was around 200 yen!

Tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, spinach, turnips, leaf lettuce, etc. were also lined up. The large bag of shiitake mushrooms contains a lot of shiitake mushrooms and costs 500 yen, which is a great value!

There is a KomonoTown Tourism Association on the second floor, and I heard that the staff there also buy their vegetables here.

Makomotake is a plant belonging to the grass family and is said to be the origin of the place name Komono. Raw makomo is only available during the harvest season from September to November.

Therefore, they turn makomo into powder and make processed makomo products. I've heard that before.

However, I was surprised that there were so many!

"Makomo Donut" 150 yen, "Makomo Madeleine" 180 yen, "Makomo Rusk" 250 yen, "Makomo Karinto" 200 yen, "Makomo Waffle" 540 yen. Makomo products are still available!

500 yen for 3g x 5 bags of ``Komono no Makomo Tea'', a tea made from 100% Makomo.

It is said to have various beneficial effects on the body, such as lowering blood pressure and improving constipation.

After purchasing and returning home, we sometimes receive additional orders over and over again saying, ``I want you to send it to me!''

"Genmaicha with makomo leaves" 1,600 yen, "rooibos tea with makomotake" 1,900 yen, "makomo leaf powder" 1,000 yen, and "dried makomotake" 500 yen.

The ``Makomo hand-stretched noodles'', each priced at 515 yen, are also very popular, and you can enjoy their chewy texture!

There are two types, one mixed with stem powder and the other with leaf powder, and there is also a 1,050 yen boxed ``Makomo Noodle Set'' that allows you to enjoy both types.

The leaves are a moegi color, and the stems are a faint reddish brown. This is a dedication product to IseJingu.

Dorayaki from Iwashimaya, a Japanese confectionery shop in KomonoTown Komono-machi, founded in 1897.

I thought it was matcha dough, but it's also makomo! Powdered young leaves are kneaded into the dough and baked to a gentle green color.

There is also the slightly bitter ``Makomo'', the standard ``Plain'', and the mildly sweet ``Kinako'' for 130 yen each.

In the catalog placed nearby, there was also a product called ``An Butter'' which is made by putting butter on top of red bean paste.

This is “Makomo Ice Cream”! Makomo is 260 yen each. Vanilla, chocolate, matcha, sesame, and cheese are also available for 210 yen each.

In addition to this, there are many other Makomo products such as "wiener with makomo" for 720 yen, "Makomo natto" for 215 yen, "Makomo kimchi" for 420 yen, and "Japanese beef shigureni with makomo" for 1,000 yen!

You can feel the love the people of KomonoTown have for Makomo and the area.

What are your popular products? This is what I was told about, handmade grass mochi. It seems that products from two Japanese confectionery shops will be displayed in rotation for one week.

On this day, I visited "Iwashimaya" and the other one was "Eijudo". There are many local repeat customers, some of whom are Iwashimaya and Eijudo fans. 3 pieces for 330 yen, 5 pieces for 595 yen.

``Yunohana Senbei'' with cute retro packaging costs 1,500 yen for square cans and 750 yen for round cans.

A nostalgic carbonated rice cracker with a light, crispy texture and a subtle sweetness. It's also great as a tourist souvenir or a small souvenir. This is also a very popular item.

Rice cooked in a pot with chicken, burdock, and seasonal vegetables has been eaten in KomonoTown households for a long time. In Komono, the rice known as Kayaku Meshi or Gomoku Meshi is called ``Kashiwa Meshi.''

Kiboso's ``Komono Kayaku Meshi Kashiwa Meshi'' (550 yen) is available in limited quantities. "Otowa Burdock" grown in Otowa KomonoTown is used.

2,000 yen for ``Kousui,'' a Junmai Daiginjo plum wine from ``Kankoume Sake Brewery,'' made with Sekitori rice from KomonoTown Town and plums InabeCity.

A Junmai Daiginjo preparation planned by Mie University graduates and students, this plum wine is made with all the effort of the sake brewery. It was written.

``Suki Suki Daifuku'' (3 pieces) is 485 yen for 3 pieces, which is made with soybeans from KomonoTown and has a soybean paste with fresh cream filling.

This confectionery was created by Chairo Girls, a group of students from Yokkaichi Commercial High School, from a project called ``Let's discover the best things in Komono!''.

Daifuku is a sweet and fluffy daifuku that is made by mixing fresh cream with soybean paste made from Fukuyutaka soybeans from KomonoTown and wrapping it in a rice cake.

It is sold frozen. Thaw slightly and enjoy while cold.

This is a product recommended by KomonoTown Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Suzuki Shoten's products are handmade, with a focus on high-quality domestic ingredients and taste.

``Kojizuke'' (610 yen) is made with chopped eggplant, cucumber, and ginger pickled in rice koji ``Moromi'' and is perfect as an accompaniment to rice or with alcohol.

"Koji Miso" (550 yen) is a sweet white miso that can be eaten as is. ``Inaka Rice Miso'' 850 yen, ``Homemade Miso'' 810 yen.

``Kuwana Honey'', which is extracted from the ``Fukurashihana'' flower that blooms in Komono, costs 750 yen and 1,500 yen.

This is a product from Tate Bee Farm Honten that is additive-free and unprocessed, and is packed with the natural flower flavor and nutrition of honey.

There are many sesame products, including sesame oil from Kuki Sangyo.

Is “Kuki Sangyo” located in Yokkaichi? When I asked about it, I was told that there is a factory in Komono. This is a product made in Komono.

"Taihaku Sesame Oil" 770 yen, "Farmer's Feeling Canola Oil" 870 yen, "Black Sesame Oil" 440 yen, "Roasted Sesame" 110 yen, "Dark Roasted Sesame" 200 yen, "Grinded Sesame White and Black" 300 yen each, ``Neri Sesame'' 570 yen, etc.

I was surprised that there were so many different sesame products.

Goods featuring Komoshika, the tourism PR character of KomonoTown Tourism Association, are also on sale.

The motif of Komoshika is the Japanese serow that lives on Mt.Gozaisho, and the horns are makomo. Her personality is quiet and gentle, and her favorite food is of course makomo!

"Can badge" 200 yen, "mechanical pencil" 400 yen, "strap" 350 yen, "key chain" 380 yen, etc.

Komono Banko-Yaki made at the Komono pottery is also lined up in rows.

We serve Komono tea on weekdays using Komono Banko-Yaki teacups.

"It must have been cold. If you'd like, let's have some tea," she said to me, which made me feel warm in my heart.

At "Restaurant Makomo no Sato", you can enjoy Makomo cuisine made with local ingredients!

There is also a ``choice set'' for 850 yen that allows you to enjoy makomo noodles (hot or cold) with either flavored rice, chirashi sushi, or makokoro bowl.

The photo shows a set of Makomo noodles and Makokorodon.

We also recommend the Makomo Curry (600 yen), which is a curry of your choice for 500 yen, topped with Makokoro (100 yen).
