``If you go to Ise, go to Asakuma, but if you don't go to Asakuma, it's only a one-way visit.'' The 555m-high Mt.Asama appears in the lyrics of Ise Ondo. Aim for the top via the toll road "Ise Shima Skyline". What kind of scenery, sights, and food will be waiting for you along the way? Let's go! We will also introduce KongoshojiTemple.

From Ise to Toba on the Ise-Shima Skyline with a spectacular view! I went for an interview.

Let's go! After paying the toll (1,250 yen for light and regular cars, 880 yen for motorcycles) at the toll gate, the person in charge gave me a pamphlet, a lottery ticket, and a discount ticket for Drive-in Toba. happy!

After driving for about 5 minutes along the curving road, we arrived at Ichiuda Observation Deck. It is 300m above sea level, the same height as Abeno Harukas Observatory (Osaka Prefecture). You can see Sun Arena, which was used as an international media center during the 2016 IseShimaSummit, as well as Ise Bay, and if you're lucky, you might even see planes taking off from Chubu Centrair International Airport.

The magnificent gate of KongoshojiTemple which has been visited by IseJingu Grand Shrine worshipers since ancient times, caught my eye.

The stairs leading to the Niomon Gate give you a sense of history and elegance.

As you enter the temple grounds, you will see the Taikobashi Bridge over Hasuma Pond in front of you. It has a big impact.

I found a Jizo stone on the approach to the main hall. First, lift it up, then turn it to the left three times, recite the mantra, pray, and then lift it again and if it feels lighter than the first time, your wish will come true. Challenge now! Hmm, it looks like my wish won't come true. disappointing.

How long has the three-storied pagoda existed?

On the left side of the main hall is a statue of ``Fukuushi''. The explanation board says, ``Touching it will purify your heart, strengthen your will, increase your blessings and wisdom, and confer blessings on your physical health.'' I stroked the lucky ox with a wish.

The main hall is a nationally important cultural property. It's quite admirable.

Ah, a gate that looks like Ryugu Castle came into view. It says "Gokurakumon". This is the entrance to the approach to Okunoin.

The left and right sides are packed with sotoba. The air is cool, probably because it is about 5 degrees Celsius lower than the surface temperature.

Arrived at Okunoin. On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji.

Mt.Asama Observation Deck at the summit is 50m higher than the Skytree Observation Corridor! You can see the cityscape of Toshijima and Toba floating in Ise Bay, and if the weather is clear, you can see the Southern Alps and Mt. Fuji.

At Yamagami Hiroen, I found a postbox standing alone. This is the `` The Post in the sky'' that has been selected as a sacred place for lovers! Let's buy a postcard and mail it.

Purchase postcards and stamps at the shop. You can also try the lottery.

We soothed the fatigue of our travels with the observation footbath (100 yen for adults, 50 yen for children).

Lastly, I went to Asakuma Chaya and ordered Shima Udon (600 yen), which is very popular with tourists.
A dish of Ise-Udon noodles with seaweed lettuce, grated yam kelp, and fried chikuwa isobe. The scent of the ocean whets your appetite.

The time required for Ise-Shima Skyline is approximately 2 hours if you visit the mountaintop and KongoshojiTemple like we did this time (about 30 minutes to walk through the Ise-Shima Skyline road, 90 minutes to visit around the mountaintop and KongoshojiTemple) .
If you only want to see the area around the summit, you can do it for about an hour.
This route is recommended for those who want to drive around Ise, Toba, and Shima!

Ise Shima Skyline Asakumacho Observation Deck has a nostalgic mailbox, which is called the `` The Post in the sky''. The official name is "No. 1 round post" and it is a type that was active from the postwar period to the 1950s, and its nostalgic appearance blends into nature and the landscape. Collection and delivery operations are carried out every day except Sunday, and people who stop by the mountaintop can purchase stamps and postcards at the shop and have them mailed. This The Post in the sky was selected as the third lover's sacred place (satellite) in Mie Prefecture by the NPO Regional Revitalization Support Center's ``Lover's Sacred Land Project''. Instead of using SNS or email, please try using The Post in the sky for "love letters," "marriage reports," "marriage registration," "current status reports," etc. in a very "analog" way!

This is an ancient temple connected to Mt.Asama located on the summit of Mt. Asama, and is also famous as the temple that protects the demon gate of IseJingu. KongoshojiTemple is said to have been founded by Akatsukidai Shonin during the Kinmei period (late 6th century). In the second year of Tencho (825), Kobo Daishi Kukai built the main dojo for Shingon esoteric Buddhism, enshrining Fukuichi Mankokuzo Bodhisattva as the principal image, and called it Shohozan Kabutsuin Kongoshoji KongoshojiTemple. It is said that Kobo Daishi Kukai practiced Kokuzo Gumonjiho on this mountain. After that, a period of no residence continued, and in the third year of Meitoku (1392), the 71st head of Kamakura Kenchoji Temple (61st head of Engakuji Temple), a Buddhist Zen master, entered the temple and worked to revive the temple. Butschi Zenji is regarded as the founder of the Chukyo sect, and he converted from the Shingon sect to the Rinzai sect, becoming a temple of the Nanzenji sect of the Rinzai sect. It suffered fires in 1597 and 1609, but in 1610 Tokugawa Ieyasu ordered Terumasa Ikeda, lord of Himeji Castle, to rebuild the main hall, Maniden. After that, it was again destroyed by fire in 1804 and 1887, and many halls were lost. Existing buildings from the Edo period include Maniden, Legal Hall, Gumonjido, Uhodo, Bokaiin, Yorakuin, Donkaiin, and Kogenin. Founding year: 539-571

The magnificent panorama of Ise Bay is spectacular! You can enjoy a 360-degree view of the spectacular scenery while soaking in the footbath. On a clear day, you can even see the Japanese Alps and Mt. Fuji. In the vast 150,000 square meter garden at the top of the mountain, you can enjoy seasonal flowers such as Asaguma Nanakusa and Jingu Azalea, and there are also hammocks and walking trails. There is also a photo spot called ` The Post in the sky'' on the mountaintop observation deck! Near the top of the mountain, there is Kongosho-ji Temple, a famous temple of the Nanzen-ji sect, which has been famous for a long time ago, saying, ``If you visit Ise KongoshojiTemple you...''. This temple is also known as the inner temple of the shrine, as it protects the demon gate of IseJingu. The main hall is designated as a nationally designated important cultural property, and one of Japan's three great Kokuzo Bodhisattvas is enshrined here.
