About LUXUNA Ise-Shima

LUXUNA Ise-Shima is an integrated facility located within Ise-Shima National Park, adjacent to GozaShirahamaBeach, which has been selected as one of the 100 best swimming beaches in Japan, and offers a wide range of glamping and marine activities.

It opened in July 2021 under the name "LUXUNA," a combination of "LUXURY" and "NATURE."

Located in a place that truly deserves to be called an island on land, LUXUNA Ise-Shima is located at the end of the last straight road that passes through GozaShirahamaBeach after driving along the prefectural roads of the Shima Peninsula.

With a vast natural area of over 13,000m2, LUXUNA Ise-Shima offers a private space with only 11 buildings. We thoroughly enjoyed the extraordinary sights and experiences at LUXUNA Ise-Shima!

Let me tell you about my stay with my 3-year-old and 6-year-old children.

A comfortable dome tent with a spectacular view

There are four dome tents in the seaside area of LUXUNA Ise-Shima.

The interior layouts are also cute, ranging from compact single rooms that are popular with female guests and couples, to spacious dome tents that can accommodate up to 12 people and are popular with families and student groups. Each building is spaced apart to a certain extent, so you can ensure some private space.

This time I stayed in the largest Pacific Dome on the site, called Amaterasu, which can accommodate up to 12 people.

There are six semi-double beds, so it's spacious and comfortable. The room faces the sea, has an ocean view, and you can even hear the sound of the waves! The moment I opened the door to the room, I was greeted by stylish furniture and the sea in the background. Even though I grew up in Shima, I was very excited by the great location.

Inside the tent, there are hanging chairs and hammocks so you can relax.

Each tent is equipped with hotel-like facilities such as air conditioning, refrigerators, and air purifiers, so you can stay comfortable regardless of the weather!

There is a private gazebo next to the tent, and it is also equipped with a BBQ grill and a private fire pit!

You can enjoy a high-quality glamping experience in the midst of nature.

I've been to glamping a few times, but the BBQ here was the best I've ever had, and the taste was authentic. I'll tell you more about the BBQ later.

Activities in the best locations in the great outdoors

When it comes to LUXUNA Ise-Shima, activities are an absolute must!

GozaShirahamaBeach that spreads out before you is a spectacular beach that is said to have the clearest water in the Tokai region.

Of course, you can enjoy swimming at Goza Shirahama Beach, which is about 200m on foot from the LUXUNA Ise-Shima site, but if you have the chance, we recommend that you try out some of the activities.

There are many marine activities available, such as kayaking, SUP, rental reef fishing, and a tour to the Blue Cave.

There are also tent saunas and private saunas where you can relax and enjoy the great outdoors!

After checking in, I went to the tent sauna and then tried kayaking just in time for sunset, so I'll report back on that right away.

Tent sauna and beach activities

The tent sauna, unique to outdoor facilities, allows you to burn your own firewood and experience the true joy of saunas, the loyly experience, using running water on the sauna stones.

I had thought that sauna might be a difficult activity to try with children, but children can experience it if accompanied by a parent, and since it is a private space, we were able to spend time there without worrying about other people seeing us.

You can choose the aroma for the loyly in advance, so you can be even more relaxed with your favorite scent.

Once your body is warmed up, the next step is a cold bath. But there is no cold bath here! You actually soak in the ocean. Lol

There are chairs prepared next to the tent sauna, but if you wish, we can bring the chairs to Goza Shirahama!

*Please note that we may not be able to accommodate the sea bath as the tent sauna is also used as a camping area.

Of course, the kids were happy to jump in and start playing on the rocks.

Each slot is reserved for 60 minutes, but once you start playing on the rocks, 60 minutes is not enough! We recommend reserving two slots to give yourself plenty of time.

You can enjoy the outdoor air while watching your kids play. The sauna is just a short walk up the stairs in front of the sea, so mom and dad can take turns relaxing!

Due to its location, Goza Shirahama has shallow waters and relatively calm waves, so even beginners can enjoy the waters with peace of mind.

If you are going to play on the rocks with your children, it will be safer and more fun if you bring sandals or marine shoes to protect their feet, as well as a bug cage and fishing net.

Please come and experience the great outdoors!

Please bring your own water. There was a water server in the dome tent where we stayed, so we could drink water freely!

Bath towels were provided for everyone at the tent sauna area, in addition to those for overnight stays (towels for overnight stays are provided inside the dome tent)!

They also have sauna hats (500 yen) and ponchos (500 yen) available for rental, but numbers are limited.

If you are bringing children, please be sure to keep an eye on them at all times to make sure they don't get burned by the wood stove.

Sauna experience
・60 minutes, 4,500 yen per slot (1 tent can be used by 1-4 people)
*For groups of 5 or more, there will be 2 tents, so an additional fee of 4,500 yen will be charged.
・Target age is 6 years old and above. *Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a guardian.
・Please wear clothes that you don't mind sweating in, such as a swimsuit, T-shirt, shorts, or rash guard when taking a natural bath (sauna).
・If you are in an intoxicated state and we determine that you cannot ensure your safety, you may not be able to participate.

kayak

Next, we will introduce the kayaking experience.

We tried a 90-minute sunset kayak tour with our daughter, who just started elementary school this year!

At the beginning, the staff gave us clear instructions on how to use the paddle, so my 6-year-old daughter quickly got the hang of it and enjoyed kayaking in Ago Bay! What's more, this tour is filmed and recorded with a GoPro, so you can take a memorable photo, which is highly recommended!

This video shows what it's like to actually experience kayaking.

For sunset kayaking, the tour departs at sunset, so the end time will be a little later. There are also plans that depart at 1pm and 3pm, so please plan your schedule according to your dinner time and the energy of your children.

There are also plans available for day use that don't require you to stay overnight, so be sure to check them out!

*Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet.

Collect ocean trash and get treasure

While my daughter and I were enjoying kayaking, how was my son and his dad, who are not yet old enough to go kayaking, spending their time?

We collected marine trash and tried to get treasure.

You can get a garbage bag at the information desk, and once you've finished picking up trash in the ocean, you can try your hand at the gachapon machine. You might win a Switch or a spiny lobster!

My son was busy picking up trash so he could play the capsule toy.

My son collected all the trash until the garbage bag was full!

It was a good opportunity to teach my child about environmental issues, such as the damage that trash causes to marine life. (My son's head is probably full of clatter.)

Now, we took our trash to the information desk and were about to get our long-awaited capsule toy! Just then, my daughter joined us after kayaking.

He was holding the garbage bag with enthusiasm as if he had picked it up himself.

Although they didn't win any fancy prizes, the kids were very happy to receive some sweets.

The next morning, we saw people picking up trash while walking along the beach! If you have time, please try picking up trash.

Add Ise shrimp to your Ise-Shima BBQ course for the ultimate BBQ experience

After the activity, it's time for dinner!

The staff will bring the ingredients right to your private gazebo, so it's super convenient!!

This is a great help for people who are new to camping or for those with small children who don't have much time to prepare.

After the activity, we took a quick shower and got changed, and the food was brought to us right away!

This time, I ordered the [Popular! Ise Lobster BBQ Course] with the option to add Ise lobster.

The gazebo is covered and fully equipped with a BBQ grill, hand washing area, and trash can.

The tables were spacious and it was very easy to work there. (The only thing I had to do was cut the French bread.)

Speaking of Ise-Shima, you can't go wrong with spiny lobster! This is the height of luxury.

You can enjoy plenty of fresh seafood, including wild turban shells from Toba, scallops from Shima, and grilled skewers of head-on shrimp.

You may think that it's a glamping facility BBQ, so as long as you can enjoy the atmosphere, the taste is the important thing! At LUXUNA Ise Shima, this idea will be overturned.

Whatever you eat is delicious! You are free to bring your own food and drinks, but we strongly recommend that you make a reservation for the BBQ course! Other luxurious dishes include domestic ribeye steak, grilled Ise chicken and vegetables on skewers, cheese fondue, ajillo, French bread, and more.

BBQ equipment and tableware can be rented for free.

It seems like it would be more economical to bring your own drinks other than water in advance!

There are plenty of fun events even after the sun goes down!

While we were enjoying the BBQ, the sun went down before we knew it.

The staff will also clean up afterwards, so you'll be treated very well!

The charm of LUXUNA Ise-Shima is not over yet. In fact, there are so many events at night that you won't have time to rest.

Let me introduce it to you right away!

Free dessert

LUXUNA Ise-Shima also serves free desserts. On this day, there was cotton candy, popcorn, candy apples, and shortcake.

Even though we ate a lot at the BBQ, there was still room for dessert!

The experience of making it yourself is also fun. There are also small plates available, so you can just drop by the bar in the facility empty-handed and enjoy as many times as you like.

There were also shiny, colorful and cute chairs and tables, which made my daughter especially happy.

Rock-paper-scissors game

We also have a rock-paper-scissors game available only from 19:00 to 21:00.

A drink at the bar costs 500 yen, but if you win rock-paper-scissors it becomes just 100 yen!

This applies to non-alcoholic drinks and soft drinks as well. Even if you lose, the price will remain at 500 yen, so why not try your luck?

By the way, my family tried rock-paper-scissors but lost in the actual game.

(This photo was taken when we played rock-paper-scissors for the photo shoot. And my daughter won! Lol)

Bingo tournaments are held here during long holidays! There is a lineup of fantastic prizes, so please come and participate!

Roasting marshmallows in a fire pit

There is a large fire pit next to the bar, which is lit from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and is free to use. You can also roast marshmallows here.

We brought our own marshmallow skewers and marshmallows, but they also rented out marshmallow skewers and sold marshmallows at the information desk.

The kids had a lot of fun roasting marshmallows! It's one of the best parts of camping!

It was a blissful time sitting back and enjoying a drink, listening to the sound of the bonfire and gazing at the starry sky.

We had a great time chatting with the other guests around the campfire and had a great time.

Because of this, it was well past the time when the children would normally be asleep.

Staying up late every once in a while is also an extraordinary experience.

After taking a bath in the facility's shared shower, we ended the first day with a sound sleep in a comfortable, air-conditioned dome tent.

I'll tell you more about the facilities later.

Enjoy an outdoor breakfast without having to bring anything

I woke up to the sound of waves and birds chirping, and it was a very refreshing morning.

Breakfast is provided the night before so you can prepare it at your own pace.

The kids woke up slowly and were delighted to have breakfast in a different location than usual.

The hot sandwich maker was ready, so we made some with the kids!

On the day of check-in, we had a lot of activities and were quite busy, so on the second day, we spent the morning relaxing in our room.

It's another blissful time, with adults sipping coffee and children swaying back and forth in hammocks and hanging chairs.

There is also a swing bench in the facility.

If you sit on the swing bench, you can see the ocean! What a great location!

There are colorful chairs lined up in the back.

The sunrise was like this! I recommend you get up a little early to see this view.

Before checking out, the kids requested that we go for a walk to the beach while husband was carrying our luggage to the car.

After checking out, you can enjoy swimming in the sea and take a shower at LUXUNA Ise Shima. You can enjoy yourself to your heart's content for two days.

About facility equipment

The information centre is located in the centre of the facility.

The parking lot is at the bottom of the hill, and you can reach the information desk by climbing a narrow slope from the parking lot. If you need to take your luggage in or out at check-in, you can temporarily park your car near the information desk.

The information center also sells camping equipment, snacks, instant noodles, alcohol, and other food and drinks.

There are also free rentals of toys such as card games.

There are limited numbers available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you want to rent one, be sure to go early after checking in!

My son's favorite was "Blackbeard's Last Stand" ♪

In addition to the classic games of Othello, playing cards, and UNO, there was a lineup that both adults and children could enjoy, including Slim Bomb, SLING PUCK, fish-shaped cards, Werewolf, and penalty game cards.

The free shared shower room looks like this.

Showers are free and amenities such as shampoo are provided.

You have to take your shoes off at the entrance, and the raised walkway can be walked on barefoot, which is convenient for families with children.

There is also a free powder room available for women only, where you can find various amenities such as cleansing oil and hairdryers.

It's located next to the shower room, so you can sit back and relax while drying your hair or putting on makeup, which is a nice feature!

There is also a free, private shower room available exclusively to dome tent guests.

This is a system where those who wish to use the service can reserve a time on a first-come, first-served basis after checking in. If you check in late, your desired time may already be booked, so if you wish to use the service, be sure to register at the information desk early.

There are also other facilities such as a rock bath (fee applies: 3,000 yen per hour).

There is also a free outdoor shower with hot and cold water.

Please feel free to use this pool to wash off sand and dirt after any activities or swimming in the sea.

The restrooms are also clean and safe to use.

There are no restrooms near the dome tent, so you will need to walk to this restroom next to the information desk.

To avoid your child suddenly saying, "Mommy, I want to go to the toilet!" and causing a panic, be sure to guide them to the toilet early on!

The facility gets dark at night, but there are lanterns inside the dome tents.

The large fire pit is surrounded by palm trees, making it feel like you're overseas. After dark, it's lit, so be sure to stop by.

The bar is located next to the fire pit. It is only open from 19:00 to 21:00, and at night it becomes very colorful, so you can take some great photos. It is open to both adults and children.

In the Woodland area, there are luxury tents and tipi tents, so you can enjoy the outdoors in a variety of styles. The tents are equipped with simple beds and sleeping bags, so it is recommended for camping beginners.

Free Tuk Tuk transfers

LUXUNA Ise Shima is located in Oza, Shima-cho, which is located further back in ShimaCity, and it is quite inconvenient to get to without a car.

However, for those who will be using public transport, there is good news!

We offer free tuk-tuk transportation, so you can enjoy your travel time as an activity.

If you are coming by other means, please first take the train to Kintetsu Kashikojima Station.

Afterwards, take the Ago Bay ferry from Kashikojima Pier, which is about a 2-minute walk from Kintetsu Kashikojima Station, to Wagu, where you will be given a free transfer in a tuk-tuk.

The regular ferry journey takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Advance reservations are required, so after completing your online reservation, please let us know if you would like to be picked up.

You can also take a tuk-tuk and a boat, so it's sure to be a fun journey!

It's a very pleasant ride along the coast.

Don't worry, there are side covers for rainy or cold days. Although you are not required to wear a seat belt, please be sure to keep an eye on your children when traveling with you.

The staff was very service-minded and asked us, "Would you like to take a photo with the ocean in the background?" and we were able to stop driving and take a commemorative photo♪ It was a great memory!
