The Ama Sculpture Exhibition has been extended until June!
Mr. Yamakawa, who lives in ShimaCity, began carving on his own and creates dynamic ``Ama divers'' of various sizes out of a single camphor tree. In 1996, his work was first selected for IseCity Museum of Art, and later for the Prefectural Exhibition and the Japan Sculpture Society Exhibition. His work was first selected for the Nitten Exhibition in 2011, and has been selected 10 times since then.
In addition to the works, panels and fishing gear are on display at the Salon de Club inside the museum, and admission is free. The ama divers, each with a different facial expression and body shape, have a nostalgic feel to them, so please feel free to touch them and enjoy their tactile sensations. Those who enter will receive discount coupons for the hotel lounge, shops, and baths.
