Rokkaen 六華苑

Completed in 1913, Rokkaen is an old European building with a four-story tower combined with a Japanese-style structure. It boasts a garden in front complete with a pond. It was built by Josiah Conder, a British architect who also designed the Rokumeikan. As a valuable architectural work representing the Meiji and Taisho eras, it has been designated as one of Japan’s Important Cultural Properties. Much of the garden has also been honored as a Place of Scenic Beauty.
There is also a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal while admiring the venerable building.
