Hinjitsukan and Meoto Iwa: A Froggy Stroll Along the Coast of the Ise Bay

Ise City, along the coast of the Ise Bay, is home to a plethora of stunning sights and experiences, all steeped in ancient Japanese mythology and Shinto mysticism. I took a train down to quaint Futaminoura Station one evening to have a look around.
Hinjitsukan and Meoto Iwa are must-see stops if you’re anywhere around Nagoya or Mie, especially if you’re in town to see Ise Shrine.

Along the path past the lookout spot, there was a little shop selling local souvenirs and beverages. Go a little further past that and there’s one of many beaches in the area and an aquarium. If you’ve worked up an appetite after all this, your best bet is to head back to Futaminoura Station, where there are a few nearby restaurants and cafes.

Trains from Nagoya take about two hours, but if you are already in Ise City to see Ise Shrine, just hop on a 29 minute train from Iseshi Station to Futaminoura Station. Hinjitsukan is only a 12 minute walk from there through a quiet neighborhood.
